Help with ID'ing Tschako

I picked this up today, but cannot find any reliable information on what it actually is. There are sites out there saying that it was for Troops in Asia during the Boer war, but I don't know how true that is. I searched the form and the net and haven't found anything else.

The Tschako top and brims feel like plastic and Wappen is brass with screw backs and looks to be poked through the helmet (no punched holes or grommets). The chinstrap has hatching on the back. Sorry for the crappy pics. If anyone wants to see anything else, let me know.

Anyone have any idea about this one? Original? Dressed up postwar? or just outright fake? I don't have real high hopes, but I'm interested to hear what everyone else says.
