I think that's a typical Austro-Hungarian inspection stamp, similar to the German AK ink stamp. What is the maker stamp on the shell?

Looks like you've snagged a great untouched original helmet.

Do not clean it, or you will remove the markings especially pencil'd in names, this is difficult for many to do , but if you take my advice you will retain the maximum value for not messing with it . It is obvious it has never been molested so far...do not make that mistake as you have a great find just as it is....People who get into that bad habit destroy more good collectibles even if they are big time dealer collectors...due to that one bad habit once started , can never be corrected. NICE SCOOP keep hunting theas woodwork the pleasures found that way cannot be beat any other way... I do notice the lug vent holes have become occupied by a mud wasp so you can stick something like a broken off a chopstick through the holes(from inside out) to clean the bug casing out ...but thats all. EVEN if you are a dealer items like this should be put in your personal stash collection.
