    M1910 Field Cap for review

This cap is being offered to me. I believe it is a M1910 Artillery. Is it original and what is a fair price?

    Thanks,
    Kevin

    cap

The cap is actually for infantry with the red band (nothing to do with Waffenfarbe). The lower cockade indicates a Baden unit and the cockades are usually sew-on style. I cannot give you a valve but I'm sure others will chime in and do so.

I will not pretend to be an expert on this headgear, but it appears ro be in awfully good shape, and is not the red band on the narrow side?
I must say that I can entertain doubts on this cap.

          Bob,
It is in pretty good shape. Not as good as the pictures represent. As you can see, there is a fairly large moth hole and the interior has quite a bit of mildew spots. You can kind of see them in the one picture. I know very little about these capes...evidenced by me not even recognizing/identifying what the red band represented. Does the stamp help identify or verify originality or the size stamp? Do they look correct?

A perfectly good cap (M07) with a nice maker mark (A. Storch Sohn). You did not show the inside of the cap behind the cockades, so nothing much can be said about that. My guess is that this cap was unissued and the cockades were put on it at a later date. As Pauke says, these caps normally started out with sew-on cockades.
