    Opinions about austrian hussar waffenrock

    hallo guys, I want to know if this hussar tunic is ok, original and your opinions about it....

    Well, the coat itself looks good to me. It is the proper color, material and construction. It shows many repairs, which along with the inside stamps, may indicate theatrical wardrobe use.

    The blue and yellow rosettes seem odd to me. I have not seen those before and from what little I know, they don't look correct for KuK. They actually look like Ukrainian Legion colored rosettes. Perhaps this was used postwar in the young Ukrainian army?

    I will check my reference books tonight and see what I can find.

      Thx Brian, I Wait your news . Infact I haven't never seen that rosettes with that colour in kuk army...

        Sorry for the delay in researching this.....

        I did not find any references to this type of rosette being used by the Austrians.

        So I have a strong feeling that the blue and yellow rosettes represent the Ukrainian legion. The legion was formed in 1914 and the use of colored rosettes was common. I don't know however if they had any mounted troops.

        So it is possible that this could be a 1914/1915 period piece, but more likely, the rosettes were added post war either by a veteran of Ukrainian heritage or for theatrical use.

        That the best I can come up with.
