    Proper wear for General's tunic

    Hey Guys,

Question about different wearing patterns of this style tunic……

From what I have found.. this was worn after 1900….. and in 1909 replaced the earlier pattern as the parade tunic.

What are the proper ‘official’ ways that this could be worn (as it seems I have seen a varying degree of ways).

    1)Walking out dress 3
    Shoulder knots
    Visor cap
    Brocade belt
    Full medals

    2)Walking out dress class 2
    Shoulder knots
    Spike with spike
    Brocade belt
    Full medals

    3)Walking out dress class 1
    Epaulets
    Spike with spike
    Brocade belt
    Full medals

    4)Parade dress
    Epaulets
    Spike with Plume
    Sash belt
    Aiguillette
    Full medals

Have I missed anything….. or was there any period where one style would apply and not another ….. ????

Also.. was there any time where they would have simply worn a ribbon bar ??
    Cheers

      Brian,

I do not like Your reply.
Mark asked a normal question, so either give him a proper answer or let it be.
There is no need that You insult him.

Nobody complains about "boring" EK threads, nobody complains about "boring" von Etzel-threads; so let it be like it is.

      Best regards

      Daniel

        Orders of Dress

        Mark,

the orders of dress would probably be better translated as follows:

        Parade Dress: Paradeanzug
        Service Dress: Dienstanzug
        Working/Office Dress: Kleiner Dienstanzug
        Full Dress: Gesellschaftsanzug

only the medal ribbons would normally be worn in Dienstanzug: In the case of the two instances of Dienstanzug, the shoulder boards were worn. The Bekleidungsvorschrift of 1911 does not specifically mention whether medals were worn in Kleiner Dienstanzug.

        Regards
        Glenn

If I'm not mistaken, the ribbon bar that's on the tunic now is the post-1915 style. If it were to have a ribbon bar at all, I believe it should have had one of the much larger trapezoid style ribbon bars.

            Hey Glenn

Thanks for this...... So in the 4 different styles..... Was I correct for the accomping items (i.e. visor cap vs spike, belt vs the sash etc) ??

I think there has been one instance where I have seen this in wear.... with the epualets and not belt at all......

Didn't they know that they were supposed to wear these tunics so as when collectors 90+ years later had them..... that we knew the proper wear

            Chris,

I agree..... the picture I have posted was from the seller who just had something 'pinned' on the tunic.... Once I get a torso cut down (it's a small tunic)... I'll post some better pics.

            Cheers

                              Hey Glenn

Thanks for the info.......... I have one additional question.... would they have ever worn this tunic with just a ribbon bar... (i.e. perhaps in the Kleiner wear only )... or is this not outlined anywhere ?

                              Cheers
