    Help ID Prussian belt buckle

    All,
I have this buckle which is longer and slightly narrower than the standard type. What is it?
    Thanks much,

Anybody? I just compared it to a standard belt buckle and it is actually the same height, just longer. Its length make it look smaller, but it is not.

The only thought I have is that it might be a cut-down buckle of one of those used by the telephone troops. Why it would have been done is anybody's guess. Are the outside edges painted with the same paint or is the paint missing? Maybe they had an overrun of this longer buckle and just finished them for regular use? Who knows?

        Thanks Chip,
No, it is not cut, but the original finished edge. It does have a similar appearance to the telegraph buckle, but it is if course not. This is a total mistery to me.

            Thanks Mac,
Looks like these are mystery buckles at the moment. They are obviously genuine, but i cant imagine for what purpose. Could they just be a makers variation that just happens to be longer than normal?
