    Guards Stalhelm or fantasy?

    Hi, any opinions on this M16. The colour has faded but from the appears to have been field greyish originally. Thanks Dai.

      I think it could be a good one. What is the helmet manufacturer's code? Are there any camo paint splotches of any kind?

          I saw one very similar at Chelmsford military fair a couple of weeks back, I was eyeing it up but couldn't see the stall holder at the time so gave up. Would this be the same one?

          If not it has a twin.

            Thanks for your interest. The helmet skirt is stamped with a W, so I guess the maker is Hermann Weissenberger & Co. The surface is very smooth, and doesn't appear to have been augmented with camouflage. The inside skirt has a similar look , but under the pillows the original field grey is clearly apparent as it does in some places on the exterior. There is a name on the skirt which I cannot make out. I've had the helmet about 8 years and often wondered whether it was any good, as I didn't pay any more than for a standard M16.
