The Krause book "The German Army" is very good and well worth the money, as are the other books he has put out.
However, $95.00 for the "Feldzug..." series (Amazon) at only 167 pages seems a bit pricey, IMO, when many other books have the same quality of photography. Perhaps at half that price I'd spring for it.

Please give us a review in the "Books..." forum when you are done.

I paid 45 euro a piece for the Feldzug books and 100 euro for the Krause book.
Next time I'm gonna buy the Krause book on the cavalry
I will for sure give a review, but on first sight they give good information and very good detailed pictures.

Books are good but no substitute for learning hands on with the helmets. I bought an expensive much sought after Helmet book once. Used it like a library book, read it then returned it to the market where someone else bought it. Took photos of the important pages.

I know, but I had nothing about WW1 uniforms, helmets, gear,...
So, now I have something to start with and to learn the basics

              Nico,

If you don't already have a copy I would recommend Ludwig Baer's book, The History of the German Steel Helmet 1916-1945.

If you're going to venture into the TR era I would recommend, Germany's Combat Helmets 1933-1945, A Modern Study by Ken Niewiarowicz.
