    Pre-WWI Feldmutze - What branch?

I am looking for information on this feldmutze before listing it for sale. I assume it is pre-WWI but am not sure what branch would have worn this. I read somewhere that the red piping along the top was standard for all branches so I assume the cockades indicate the type of unit. Your help is appreciated!

The red band and piping are standard for infantry units, but there are other possibilities. The state cockade is for Württemberg. The cap may be a reproduction. At best, it is private purchase piece. The lining and sweatband are not what you would expect to see.

      Hi Chip,

The lining does look different than other examples I found on the web. I took a black light to it and nothing glowed. Anyone else have thoughts on originality?

That interior screams repro to me. Also, the red top piping is NOT common to all branches. For example, many cavalry regiments would have a wide range of piping colors; yellow, white, black, crimson, etc.
Check out the website, The Kaiser's Bunker; it is a gold mine of valuable information.

Been burning my eyes trying to check the piping looks like it was squeezed from a toothpaste tube,. that is usually a sign of a copy even an individual's made piece.
