Just a few more pieces to start the Mannequin

I figure I just need a mess tin and two shoulder boards and I can then place an order for a mannequin.

I just got in another ammo pouch and will sell the other off as surplus to help fund this.

And how much should I pay for a WWI issue mess tin? I see two on sites one for 180 and another for 200 USD. Seems a little high.

I will have to relie on a few repot parts to the set up. Pack straps, shovel carrier Etc, with an eye to keeping an eye out for originals down the line.

I know there is one like the mess tin in the center of your photo at a site for 180 should I be looking at it seriously?

Here is the half mannequin I used for my GI great coat. Without hat and then with hat in final resting place.

And there mannequin for my German great Coat. I think he looks very Teutonic. I call him Hans. I was dressing him when I had to put it all on hold. The tunic strap that holds the shoulder boards in disconnected from the tac that the sew lady put in place cause I told her it only had to hold for display. I Have to take it back and will have her sew it on good this time. Also had to cut Hans's Feet off to get em in the boots.

That is not the helmet Hans will be wearing. I just threw that on his head for some place to store it till the coat gets fixed.

Some advice needed on the coat. When I was putting it on the bent arm on the Hans's left side I noticed the seam on the arm has come un done in a space of about 6 inches. Never noticed it before because it was always hanging straight.

Should I have this sewn closed by the Sew shop lady so it displays well and arrests any further spread of the seam opening?

Eric hit the nail on da' head. The prices can vary greatly according to type, unit marks (if any), and of course, condition. US and German eBay are good sources but I just noticed that Dugout Militaria has a couple of nice examples in stock right now for 150 Euros (about $200) which seems reasonable. Good luck and please post photos of the mannequin when it's done.

LOL I was not impressed with his face (too much a pretty boy) but knew it would be covered up by a gas mask. He's got eye lashes not just painted on they are there sticking out.

But ya when I put him together I was like wow they sent me a Rammstein member!

Guys, I have some questions about the back pack's straps. IN the back as I have it on but not fully connected I do not see any way to attach it to the belt. Can anyone give me a clue?

And as you see in the photo of the front, I have two points on the belt but there is an additional two smaller straps. Where do they go proper?

He's not done yet pending answers to my questions above but he looks to be shaping up to be a hansom Devil!

My Cat no sooner got used to him and now is afraid of the Mannequin again

You mean those straps in front, the smaller ones go all the way around the back of the pack to the two hooks on the under side of the back? I don't think they will stretch that far?

EDIT: OH YES THEY DO!!! Thanks Eric. LOL
