Some kind of Y-straps or equipment straps by chance ?

    Hi all,

is this any kind of WW1 equipment strap ? Its marked with a maker and Berlin, no year. Other side of the strap has a 16 in circle embossed. Just wanted to know before throwing it in a fleamarket box.

    Thanks, Jens

I can tell you that "F. (Franz) Cobau" of Berlin made leather items for the German army at least back to the 1880s. I think the firm continued into the post-WWI era and this item comes from that period.

            Hi Chip,

wow, thanks for your info. So you think its post ww1 ? Could it be military at all ? Or maybe civillian ?

Many of the features look military to me...the hooks, the ring, the construction. Pair that with the fact that we know Cobau made gear for the military and I think you can say that it is military related.

I have an Ulan saddle made by Cobau from the 1880s.
