    Help Identify Unit Please?

    Gentleman:

This one came through the door on Saturday. Want to be certain of unit prior to posting on our website. There is a stamp on crown liner (faint) that has a IV BA LC and 1916.

Any help with this will, as always be appreciated.

Cöln wasn't in the IV.A.K., so I don't think that works. The only unit in the IV.A.K. I can think of that would have worn a shako would be the Magdeburg Jäger Bn.Nr.4. There may have been other wartime units, like Flieger troops, but I would have to check to see if any of the Flieger Ersatz Abteilungen were stationed in that army corps.

If you could show the "LC" stamp, I might be able to say more.

          Hello,

          Here's a couple neat links on Magdeburgisches Jäger-Bataillon Nr. 4 - Naumburg:

          Unit's organization in 1914:

          15. Infanterie-Brigade - Halle an der Saale: Generalmajor Paul von Reichenau
          Adjutant: Hauptmann von dem Knesebeck
Füsilier-Regiment GFM Graf Blumenthal (Magdeburgisches) Nr. 36 - Halle/Bernburg: Oberst Hans von Oertzen
Anhaltisches Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 93 - Dessau/Zerbst: Oberst Louis von Arnim
Magdeburgisches Jäger-Bataillon Nr. 4 - Naumburg: Oberstleutnant Eric von Marcard

Maybe a silly question but your not confusing LC for the size 57?

Eric is correct...that's a size 57 upside down unless there's another stamp not shown yet.
