Hessian 115th Officer Waffenrock

Here are a couple pics of my M-1907/10 officer's waffenrock for Leibgarde-Inf.-Regmt. (1. Grossherzogl. Hessisches) Nr. 115. This regiment used double litzen on the collar tabs, litzen on unpiped brandenburg cuffs and silver buttons. The shoulder boards have the cypher of Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig, who in 1897 elevated the status of the 115th from a line regiment to that of a leibgarde regiment.

That's a nice looking tunic Dave, thanks for sharing!

I like the collar litzen and boards especially. I don't suppose the tunic is named is it? Always an extra bonus if you can determine the original owner.

I'd love to find something similar for IR. 169 or 170 (Baden)

Thanks for the comments. Unfortunately, no name. Both the 169 and 170 Regiments on a M-1907/10 would have worn the standard red piped waffenrock with bandenburg cuffs and brass buttons w/o litzen. The piping on the numbered shoulder boards and straps for the 169 IR would be red and for the 170 IR would be blue.

Thank you for your comments. No sign of a label. I presume he will always be anonymous. There were 20 Obrlts and 17 Hptms for this regiment in the 14-18 honor rank list. The only interior pockets are the "glove" pockets in the rear skirt. This tunic was definately worn in the field and a period replacement of one of the interior skirt panels was done. Here is a shot of the interior of the tunic

Just a coincidence - just as you put this up I am writing up the participation of the Liebguard=Infanterie=Regiment Nr. 115 in the attacks on the opening days of the Battle of Verdun for my book on German Flammenwerfer in WW I. A lot on this in Schlachten des Weltkrieges 1914 - 1918 Band 13. They often sell for less than 10 Euros. Names lot of the company commanders, junior officers. I would guess that there is a unit history for this important unit, but don't know for sure. (Do they give jacket sizes?)
