My latest addition

This one was a gun show walk in from the family and was purchased by a friend of mine. Had known about it for a couple months but was only able to acquire it today. Not as knowledgeable as many pickelhaube collectors here and alot of times go on my gut feeling. I like them uncleaned and dusty and this one fit the bill. I actually didn't know it had mostly silver trim untill I got it in hand. From the initial pics I had I thought it was a regular Wurttemberg officers helmet.
The rear visor on the left side has come undone and the front visor has alot of stitching broke but is still hanging on fairly well. Really unsure if I should have these areas repaired. It still has great shape as is but I don't want it to get worse.
Anyway here's one that's not been in the collecting community long.

That's a beauty! Unfortunately, Reserve officers don't show up in the Ranglisten. It will take someone with a lot more resources than I to find Herr Blessing.

Actually, the rangliste does include reserve officers, at least my 1912 list does.
Unfortunately, no one named Blessing is listed.

Yes, that is a real beauty! Congratulations Perry!

I can't quite make out if the chinscales are flat, or arched from your nice photos.

If they're arched, the helmet was worn by the 25th Dragoon Regiment.

If the chinscales are flat, the helmet was worn by the 119th Infantry Regiment, the 123rd Grenadier Regiment, or Pioneer Batallion 13.

Either way, it's a helmet that's tough to find. I don't have one in my collection yet, and would be proud to have this one if you ever let loose of it someday.

I've tack-sewn the ends of loose visors before with black cotton thread and a small enough needle.

Brian Loree who owns the Pickelhaubes.com forum is the grand master of resewing visors. He does a fantastic job, if you're willing to allow him to work on it. He's a real pro, the best of the best.

I'm amazed that the antlers are still on the stag, must have been well taken care of. The antlers look like they would easily get snagged on stuff and get broken off. I agree it wouldn't hurt to use some black cotton thread and a small needle to put a couple stitches in to hold the items back in place before further damage could happen

Thanks for the compliments guys. The chinscales have a slight curve to them but its not alot, just slightly? The last scale or one with the hook/hole has the most curve.
Would visor repair hurt the value? I'm really not in the collecting loop in the pickelhaube community and don't know how these things are accepted.

Some collectors don't want items repaired they prefer un-touched items while others accept professionally restored items. Guess it comes down to personal choices. If an item has been repaired or restored documentation should accompany the item listing the repairs etc for future collectors
