The M16 E.T.64 helmet shell is original, but the paint inside and out is not.

Perhaps "fake" is too harsh a word? That implies there was a deliberate intent on someone's part to deceive. I wonder if this isn't more of a "fantasy" piece or imaginative souvenir done shortly after WWI? Either way, yes, it's not a legitimate and original military piece.

If you take a look at the "preview/teaser" photo the seller provides, it looks like the collection he bought to re-sell sat in a damp basement for quite some time before he acquired it, and everything turned rusty where the metal was missing paint.

Two of the five pickelhaubes have serious condition problems with the finish on the leather body.

Whoever had this stuff didn't take the best of care of their collection.
