      That metal trim on the visor reminds me of British caps. The Germans never had anything like that as far as I know.

        Chip, the research I have done shows they did......but whether this cap is genuine remains to be seen........I am hoping

          Some of the parts remind me of polish caps. They had something similar in the 19. century. Cant say what it is dough...

            Metal trim is found on visors during Napoleonic times. The chinstrap and buckle should help date the piece. I'm guessing very old - older than photography.

              IMO not german, but it could be polish.
              From the materials it is not of early or mid 19th century manufacture ( not before 1890).
              Polish caps had the metal trim to the visor for long time, especially for parade dress. Even in the late 20th century.
