Unknown World War I. helmet question

    Hi everyone!
A few years ago one of my friends found a ww1 helmet in a plow land during plough
The helmet is damaged on the top and the right side
My question is: This is a German M16 or a Austro - Hungarian M 17 helmet?
    Please write your opinion

    Hi!

From these pics (and regarding the low situated rivets on both sides) it's a German helmet IMO.

    Kind regards,

    Peter

If the shell has the "lugs" for a chin strap.... it's a German made shell. Austrian helmet's chin straps mounted to the liner band-

Of course, nearly every European Armies or Auxillaries used some German helmets durning the 20s/30s/etc.- so we'll never know who actually used it.

As already said, it has the "knopf 91" lugs, which IMO makes it a M1916. The placement of the innerhelm holes is different for Austrian helmets.

          Best regards,
