    Recognize this hardware?

    I picked these up in the early '90 from a guy at a Houston gun show. I had inquired about hardware for a set of WWI German Y-straps and this is what he said they were.
    I was involved in reenacting WWI and wanted to reproduce a set but all of the original sets that I have seen since had hardware that more closely resembled the WWII models.
    Could these have been a variation or did I simply get ripped off?
    The fellow was supposed to be the guru of German WWI equipment, I think his name was Roberts.

    Your guru fed you doodoo. These are the Austrian style hooks that were used on their "Y" straps to which their backpack and small ammo pack were attached. They continued to be used on Czech gear well into the 1930s.

    German WWI era "Y" strap hooks are different than WWII hooks.
