Trousers - Imperial or RW

Hello,
I picked up these trousers years ago in the former Sudetenland. I've shown them to a couple of folks who verified that they are German, but they weren't sure if they were from the Imperial era or for the Reichswehr. Can anyone here tell me for sure one way or the other?

I'd say M1920 Dismounted breeches, although i'd wait for the experts for a definite.

IMO it will be difficult for anyone to say for sure. They are clearly private purchase for an officer or maybe NCO. I agree that they are in the style of those for dismounted personnel. I'm not sure how I could apply the various changes to the Reichswher regulations to private purchase breeches (1919,1920, 1927...maybe I left out a couple) I do believe that they are from a period prior to 1930 or so based on a number of the characteristics that these show.

The shortened back adjusting belts were worn on private purchase pieces during the war, but that is not to say that these are from that period. As phild suggests, they are really impossible to date.

OK, appreciate the input. I suspect they're more likely RW rather than Imperial. Now to figure out whether to sell them or keep them in the hopes that i might one day find a nice RW tunic to go with them.
