I am not well enough informed to make a call, however, this is a splendid piece IMHO. $800 is a steal as just by looking these are going for around 1200-1800 on estand or other websites. This is in beautiful condition. The inner lining is the only worrisome part I see with the photos you provided as the inside liner is beyond "Mint" and the fact that it has the name of a soldier inside. This piece might have been purchased as a spare and never worn because this liner is in mint condition.
I think this is a great pick-up. Looking forward to what other collectors have to say.
Probably need to post some better photos though..

This looks like a standard, albeit, very nice Prussian M15 Pickelhaube. This is the most common spiked helmet out there and even at a premium for the condition, it seems like an awfully high price. I have to admit that I have not purchase a spiked helmet in years, but if this is what they are going for these days, I hate to think was those from the other German states are selling for! I too am very interested to see what the helmet collectors (like adler1) have to say.

I really don't like the pictures, they are just to blurry to say something useful about this haube.
Anyway, helmets like this one and in the condition like this one is supposed to be, are not that common anymore. Usually it's always something with condition or the price. If you guys can still find them in the US at $400 to $600, I think you are lucky nowadays. In Europe the go the same ammount, but in Euros...

I would honestly have to say that $800 for a nice condition Prussian M15 is not out of line, and is what some folks are actually willing to pay for one like this in 2013.
Ones without chinstrap or kokardes will go for around $600, if they are this nice, and unit marked also helps.
I remember 12 or 13 years ago I sold a mint, unissued example for $750, and I thought that it brought a high price back then.
Even though this is the most common type of helmet to find, it's getting more difficult to find them this nice.
I recall the recent S.O.S., and seeing lots of unsold helmets in worse condition where the dealers were asking $700-800 on them.
You can always ask this seller if he will come down to $700 or $750. It never hurts to ask!
Best Regards,
Alan
