Unknown (to me) Front Plate

Can someone identify this front-plate?

I know the shield is Saxony, but what about the lions on either side? It's like a cross between Bavarian and Saxony. I've been staring at about 75 spike helmets today so maybe my brain is just full.

I believe it is a Saxon state official's helmet. It could be police, Zoll or something along that line. Have you tried the Pickelhaubes.com site? Many experts on this subject there (although there are a few here too!).

A Bayern Zollbeamten would probably not be wearing the Sachsen State Wappen with the Sachsen motto Providentiae memor.

Chip got it correct. It is Sachsen Zollbeamten.

I'm sorry ... typo. I mean't Sachsen. The customs part was what I was confused about, but finally found an obscure reference to it. Thanks guys!
