Field Grey Uniforms of the Imperial German Army, 1907-1918

Does anyone have this Malcolm Fisher book?

Was it even published? He said he was going to put all of Marschall's Feldgrau into a book but did it happen?

      Tony,
There's an ad on Amazon that gives the impression it is about to be published.

      http://www.amazon.com/Field-Uniforms...m/0764340336/2

And there are Marschall's tapes, of course ......
      Regards,
      Sandro

It is being published by Schiffer Publishing, Ltd. and their website shows a July 2012 release date.

            Imperial Uniforms Book

            Gents

The production of this book is a bit of a long story...in 1996 Regimentals in the UK acquired the famous Marshal Daut collection of field-grey uniforms, pretty much in it's entirity. In the catalogue announcing the acquistion of this collection it was stated that the intention was to produce a book based around it, and that after it's publication the items themselves would be sold.

Not long after this I remember seeing quite a few of the tunics from the Daut collection in Regimentals' shop in Islington, and during another visit around 1999/2000 I saw some test images Malcolm had taken of various uniforms and equipment set up on mannequins which were intended for the book.

I have got to say that Malcolm and Tony Bradley were both very generous in sharing the items and the images with me...I'd just graduated at the time and had nowhere near the kind of spare cash to afford some of these items, but they let me have a good look at some very nice, very rare pieces.

The years went by, the book never appeared and various tunics from the collection appear to have been sold on. In truth I'd totally forgotten about it until I saw the pre-publication announcement on the Schiffer website. I cam appreciate that putting a book like this together whilst running a full-time business is no easy task....the original collection was impressive and comprehensive to say the least, so hopefully the finished book (when it appears...July, I think?) will do it full justice.

Incidentally CCJ, around the same time as they acquired the Daut collection Regimentals also picked up another couple of nice WWI German collections -one had 20-30 field-grey tunics in it, including I think the steller Saxon Garde NCOs tunic you currently own.

            All the best

            Paul.

Paul, you are correct. My super rare Saxon LGR100 tunic did go through there hands before it made its way to me.
I searched out and struck up a fair relationship with Marshal after learning he was the source of most of Malcolm's wonderful WW1 items. At that time I was amazed one man could own so much. For that matter, I was stocked that many items even existed in the USA.
Regimentals has had some of the best uniform items I've ever seen. The book should be amazing. I'm only upset because I didn't pre-order at Amazon when they were $75.00 as I wanted more information first. Now it shows out of print. Well, as you indicated its in publication. Maybe Amazon sold out or maybe their deal fell through.
              I do want my copy.
Typing on iPhone so please excuse all the errors.

                Hi
Do you still have that Saxon tunic? I bought from Regimentals an absolute stunner 100Sax. and later sold it to Rick Keller. The collection you guys refer to saw it in malcolms basement... stunning.
Trouble is he wouldn't sell me any of it until cataloged.

                      Hi
Beautiful, thanks for showing. Mine was '08 dated and had 'square top' boards.
Looks like you have a first rate collection going on there.
