    Bavarian Uniform Check

    Dear All,

Deciding what else I no longer need and verifying what I have. I posted this overcoat somewhere many years ago but can't find the thread. If I remember correctly it is an early post WWI Reichswehr or Bavarian coat, perhaps someone can tell for sure.

    Thanks!

And this should be a Bavarian I.R. 5 NCO Rock. I am not 100% sure anymore, but think it came from the same family as the coat above. Not sure of the exact model and its date.

Straight out of Nuremberg, a Bavarian I.R. 14 (Hartmann) 9 Co. EM Rock. Not sure of the era.

              Hi Albert,

The overcoat looks like a prewar or early war private purchase one. The shoulder straps appear to have a dark blue underlay, which means they are for a tunic and not an overcoat. So they have just been added. One would expect to see some private purchase quality boards with a gray backing that would match the color of the coat. The sleeve stripes are from the immediate postwar provisional army. One book says they were authorized in January of 1919 and that they lasted until the new army became official just a few months later in May. The four stripes would indicate the rank of etatsmässige Wachtmeister. I imagine that if there were any interior markings you would have mentioned them.

The next piece is a Bavarian private purchase Offizierstellvertreter Litewka.

The last one is also a private purchase piece.

                Hi Chip,

Thank you very much, as always very helpful! Indeed, the boards have a dark blue underlay. They also look to have been crudely added. As for markings, the liner was removed so there is little information to be gained from the interior.

                Best Regards,

                Albert
