Sabeltasche odd, repro or tradtion

I picked up a sabeltasche in a collection of various stuff, but its odd in several ways: it has no actual bag, no leather, so is this a well done reproduction or did they have a modern "traditions" kind of thing, as it shows age and some moth tracking ???

It could be the actual front flap of a Sabeltasche turned into a decorative accent by removing it from the full rig.
