Well have you noticed as soon as this was made mention here that 0 bidder is now a 1 Feed back bidder. That looks bad.

Since there is a reserve the only thing the seller will gain is a faster sale. Whatever his reserve price is it will sell at.

I will say I am un comfortable with that bidder. I think what that bidder has done is nothing more then to drive away serious bidders (you and me at least) as I think I might wait till the next listing to partake at this point. If it sells this auction so be it.

Well, as some would say "Machts Nichts" as the auction has ended without the mystery bidder bidding after it was pointed out here. There was a new mystery bidder who took up the bidding then.

Well the new bidder might have been an honest collector who only tuned in a day or two ago to the auction. It sold for 1 dollar under the last auction's buy it now.

I did not feel it was worth anymore then 350 and yet with my finances I'd only be able to offer 250 on it.

Now have you seen the seller's other two helmets? Looks like a good Prussian Guards helmet to me.

I've tried my hand at winning some militaria half of 2011 and into 2012 but have had no luck with current income and prices that seem to defy economic reality.

I have had some luck in other areas of collectibles. Found these treasures on ebay and have had some luck but probably only because I am seeking kits that are not sealed.

I don't think it was a fake bidder. I see this a lot, especially from new ebay people. They bid often and small, not realizing the best way to utilize ebay. If you look at his history, he's bid numerous times on other auctions, including 14 different sellers within the past 7 days. All in the WW1 category. So clearly he's a collector who sucks at ebay. The conspiracy stuff gets a bit tired after a while. Sometimes dumb is just dumb, and nothing more.

Well, I figure Lee Harvey Oswald shot JFK, not a conspiracy between the CIA, the FBI, the Mafia, and the Cubans. I figure that Muslim terrorists hit the Twin Towers on 9/11, I doubt there are alien bodies at Area 51. I simply saw one bidder with no feedback that kept bidding an item up in small increments and it looked suspicious to me.
I do not hawk eBay daily, in fact there are times that I will not go there for months so I am sure that you have vast more knowledge about the topic than I do. I might not have ever seen this particular helmet had it not been pointed out here.
