Prussian Infantry Krätzchen

I found this in a long-forgotten box of accumulated bits and pieces while looking for some other lost bits and pieces. I am not a cloth headgear guy, but as everything is reproduced these days I have to ask the ubiquitous "Is this original or a reproduction". The BA III stamp is horribly struck and there is a deliberately obscured "IR" marking. The lining is hand-stitched on the lower edge. The lining is stained but this could easily be accomplished with a tea bag. Any help would be appreciated. Lining photo coming up next.

The stain in the center of the lining looks like the regimental marking was done with water soluble ink and it ran with sweat.
