    Hi rick1
I've photographed a page from Peter Nash's book German Belt Buckles 1845-1945,hopefully you can read it when I reply.
A good page with a fair bit of info.,hopefully this helps.
Very nice buckle by the way.

          Hi Eric
I don't know about the brass pin,I have a number of WW1 buckles and none have a brass pin for the prong bar, they are all steel.
I had a read of some of my books on buckles and can't find anything about brass pins,I'll have a better look over the weekend and see if I can come up with something for you, someone else might know for sure.
Also, just a thought, maybe brass is to soft for the prong bar pin?
          Best

            eric,

steel pins are the norm from 1848 on. brass would be to soft.
