        Nice find!

The Felt one is a Garde Artillary helmet, are there any markings on the inside?

The Basic Prussian on the right is interesting. The wappen is for a Reserve helmet, but the cross is missing and the holes are plugged where the cross would be attached?? Pictures of the inside would be great on this one as well.

          Hello
2 picture inside the basic Prussian
j understand R 84 as for reserve regiment 84 but for the remaining of the marking, if you have an idea
          regards, Philippe

Personally, I like the sign. "Divisions-Brücken-Train".

Great finds all around! The pickelhaube probably belonged to a Soldat from Schleswigsches Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment
Nr. 84, I. Battalion, I. Companie. It probably wouldn't be too difficult to find a reserve cross if you wanted to restore it.

RIR 84 was part of the 18th Reserve Division for the entire war. They fought on the Western Front for the duration of the war and was considered a decent unit.

I believe that this marking is the active Regiment.

                Infanterie-Regt. von Manstein (1.Schleswigsches) Nr.84
(Schleswig u. Hadersleben) VIII Armee Korps

I would have thought that a lone "R" in a marking like that would have constituted Reserve, but you have been in the game much longer than myself and would know better than I would Colonel J.

Just looked up IR 84 on your Kammer Marks page and saw the one that was nearly identical to this, so I stand corrected.

So the wappen was probably switched at some point down the line?

I do not think this one is original to this helmet.

Thanks for your thoughts. I could go into depth about this kind of marking. I recently wrote a piece about similar marks for a very advanced collector. It really wasn't that many years ago that nobody understood anything about these markings. In fact when I started on it with Max were both told point blank by advanced collectors not to try. It was in the too hard box. It could not be done. Makes me smile sometimes. Lacarde did some good work on it but I think we are far advanced today.

about The Felt Garde Artillary helmet, this is the only marking, unfortunately difficult to read

It looks like there is enough room there for the letters "K.B.A.G.".
