Cannot find the old thread with studio photos of the helmet, so here are some quick images shot on the front porch this morning.

Am convinced the camo paint is combat First War, not a post WWI embellishment. A detail of the tag, can anyone read it? I cannot.

I agree, looks like a beauty to me, too! I really like the finesse of the Camo., nice variation in the "hand"....the way applied....

Am primarily a WWII Fallschirmjäger collector, but as stated on the Baden Haube thread, have wanted examples of these since early childhood. A great Aunt and Uncle had extensive books on the First War. The uncle was an early Naval aviator. When visiting them I would pour over these books looking at photos of German helmets and uniforms. Many books had large color plates of dramatic German wartime paintings, was enthralled with the helmets portrayed.

These pieces are as significant as anything in the WWII collection.

no doubt John.. I know exactly what you mean about oooh'ing over helmets in the books... I've got a great M-16 but not with camo.. you're really encouraging me to start the hunt... in fact, I'm pretty sure its a need now!
