    Baden EM Pickelhaube

As a Luftwaffe and Fallschirmjäger collector my focus on WWI is narrow. But, since childhood have always wanted a nice representative camo M16 and Pickelhaube. Found the Pickelhaube at this weekend's Raleigh show. Here it is, and it is now proudly displayed beside the M16. Thanks to a good friend for passing it on to me!

    Hi John

    Very nice pickelhaube

It's not easy to find these complete anymore -that is with original cockades and chinstrap still in place- and it's also harder to find helmets with plates to states other than Prussia, so your M15 is a winner on two counts. Would be great to see a shot of your M1916 helmet if you had one to hand.

For your interest I've attached a shot of my complete M1915 Saxon pickelhaube. Be warned, collecting these spiky things can be very addictive...

    All the best

    Paul

Very nice! Does it have a brass Baden cockade?

Nice Baden pickelhaube John... Can we see more of it? Is the maker Julius Janson, and is it Unit marked?

Thanks for the kind comments Gentlemen. Paul, that is a very handsome example you have.

Here is the other side. Have not photographed the interior, but will do so later in the week. The only marking I can find inside is the size.

My M16 was posted here on an old thread years ago, will try to locate it and post a link. Do not have a photo of it on this machine.

          Regards,
          John

Very good example, and nice to see a non-Prussian version.

Excellent haube!... But as Paul already stated... be warned for the haube virus, it gets you faster than you think...

                  Hi Paul,

Here is a cropped anc color corrected photo of your Haube, hope you like it.

And, a link to the M16 thread, though most interested parties have already seen it.

                    John

Thanks so much for that......I've just read the poignant story relating to your other M1916 helmet as well. The helmet itself is a fine example, but the family connection and the story with it make it a real treasure.

Once again, thanks for the photo enhancement

                    All the best

                    Paul.
