unknowned leather imperial pouch

Recently I came along this leather pouch. It's marked and dated "Otto Sindel 1917 Berlin".
The inside is lined with felt or sheepskin.
Is there someone who knowns for what this was used for?

It.s a headphone pouch

Kopffernhörertasche. Part of the normal telephone equipment, it contained the earphone with headstrap and a Ruftrompete, a whistle which was inserted into the microphone to test the line.
