    Question regarding pricing.

    Hello,

    what is the current rate for M16 and M18 camo helmets with liner, chin strap and overall in nice shape. Which one is the more expensive model between the two?

    I know this question is kind of stupid without judging on a actual helmet, I just would like to know some ballpark numbers.

    Like:

    M16 poor shape --> $XXX
    M16 average shape --> $XXX
    M16 superb shape --> $XXX

    M18 poor shape --> $XXX
    M18 average shape --> $XXX
    M18 superb shape --> $XXX

    Last but not least, is there a good dealer site with a good sortiment on M16 / M18 helmets?

    Thanks in advance

    Hey Alex,
    There is no such thing as a current rate for this type of item, it all depends on what is available, and how bad a buyer wants what is available, the M18 will probably command a higher price in most cases based on the same condition, and condition is the key factor. The biggest problem with trying to set a price, is the market is fluid, and if you set a helmet in from of 10 collectors, and asked them to set a price, you will get 10 different answers, and the highest price may be many times the lowest price.

      Gus is right Alex. You're also just going to have to follow the market... ebay still has the most original WWI German steel helmets to pick from. Happy Hunting.

          Generally on complete M16 helmets,

          Factory green - Near 1,000

          Camo - Over 1,000

          All depending on the pattern and how many collectors are looking to spend in the auctions time frame.

          M18 Camo's Complete? Yer gonna need luck just to find one for sale on a site before someone else takes it down.

          Good LUCK!

            Let,s generalise a little to help your list. For instance, we,ll say all the helmets are Fieldgrey ET (Eisenhüttenwerke Thale A.G.) size64 without chinstraps, (the M18,s 95% of the time have partial only) and have original liners. We,ll also deal in max values. Forget the term 'A Fair Price,' its a figment of peoples imagination, wishful thinking, does,nt exist.

            M16 poor shape --> $250
            M16 average shape --> $450
            M16 superb shape --> $800

            M18 poor shape --> $300
            M18 average shape --> $550
            M18 superb shape --> $1000

            The same helmets in the familiar camo 'style' often seen on ET,s.

            M16 poor shape --> $450
            M16 average shape --> $800
            M16 superb shape --> $1500

            M18 poor shape --> $550
            M18 average shape --> $1000
            M18 superb shape --> $2000

            Beyond that you go into personal tastes and rare makers. I have an affinity for Quists, they are not rare, more because they are a well made lid and camo patterns vary somewhat.
            Collect with your heart and love of the hobby, not your head and 'market values'.
