Is that the gain in post #4? I don't think I have ever seen an example that still had that part.
The prices on these (especially nice ones like this) have gotten completely beyond what an average collector can afford. Like many things these days....I should have bought more back when they were cheap!

Hey Chip,
I have not heard that term, and they do not often come with a grenade, I have one with this part, it is the fuse that the pull string and detonator attache to. Having a grenade with a live fuse train is not a danger, but one always wants to make sure that there is not a live detonator in any fuse assembly, as they are powerfull enough to remove fingers or a hand.

I'm sure there is a better technical term, but with artillery shells, the gain is the part that goes from the fuse up into the charge. I don't know if the term is interchangeable with grenades. More correctly with grenades, it would be called the fuse assembly, which included the detonator.
