    Interesting Bavarian Helmet

    Wie gehts:

    I'm wondering if anyone else has has seen this little interesting twist on ventilation on an officer's helmet. This is a very nice and clean bavarian officer's helmet (artillery or cavalry),but....

    ...look at the extra vent holes on the arms of the spike base....

      Now take a look at the inside of the helmet.

        As you twist the spike (where the perlring is) counter clockwise, four arms within the spikebase close off the vent holes! The aluminum spike retainer inside the helmet is marked "DRGM 136714". Here is a look inside the helmet when the vents are closed.

          Fantastic! Never seen anything like it before. All I have seen is the rotating Perlring to shut of neck vents, but this is light-years past that in complexity. What a great helmet. T
