New Zealand vet bought back pork pie cap and bugle

Thought I would post a couple of recent finds, as I like to collect NZ vet bought back items from WW1 and 2. The bugle is maker marked and dated 1915.

Both came via the same veteran, a junior officer who's basic service details are on the following link:

    I like the tag.

    cheers

      Very nice.

The XVIII Armee Korps were based out of Frankfurt am Main. Their corps district included the Grand Duchy of Hesse, Hessen-Nassau, and parts of southern Westphalia. Considering this cap has the Prussian cockade instead of a Hessian one, a person could infer that this cap belonged to a member of one of the infantry regiments in the 21st Division in 1917 (Füsilier-Regiment von Gerdsdorff (1. Kurhessisches) Nr. 80, Infanterie-Regiment Landgraf Friedrich I. von Hessen-Kassel (1. Kurhessisches) Nr. 81, Infanterie-Regiment (1. Nassauisches) Nr. 87) all of which came out of Kurhessen or Hesse-Nassau (Prussian territory.)

What does the purple stamp in the cap say? Also, what does the marking on the bugle below the eagle say?

Thanks for that, the purple stamp is very hard to read and is in three lines, the bottom of which is 'MAINZ',I assume it is a makers stamp.

The bugle stamping is 'J ALTRICHTER, FRANKFURT. D 1915
