So I was in a used bookstore today, and low and behold...

There was a leather pickelhaube on a shelf next to some books.

It's a great used bookstore here in North Dakota, one where they have a mish mash of everything stacked everywhere. And there on the shelf next to the historical books was a genuine pickelhaube. It was missing its badge and appeared to have a big hole in the left side blown off, but there it was none the less.

Not something I expected to see today.

Was it for sale? If so, what were they asking for it?

Well, I asked the guy at the counter if I could look at it, and he was fine with it, but then some older lady in the back sort of freaked a bit like I was a 2 year old and was going to drop it and destroy it or something. She seemed to think it was a piece of fine art. Yes its uncommon, especially around these parts, but it was pretty beat to hell. So I didn't even inquire as to price, because I'm sure she thought it was worth a fortune.

She is most likely was attached to it sentimentally... Try talking to her about it if you ever go back.
