    Pack and Bread Bag

Got it in the mail today. First the bread bag. Got it off Advanced Guard Militaria. It was offered at a higher price then I paid. I was paying for the pack over the phone and asked if they would come down on it. They did so I took it also. Only seems to be missing the middle strap.

Very shocking is the two surviving straps seem to have NEVER been buttoned to the imperial metal buttons.

Total Bouns because I did not see mention of it in the description but came with 4 pack straps for mess tin and half tent. I hope they are original. Now I need to find a zelt. Never thought I'd need one and saw one on ebay not too long ago.

              The pack is beautiful.
But the kit strap shown is a GWM repop. The black zelt straps look post W2 to me. imo
              Nice breadbag.

I just took a close look at the straps, I take it you mean the leather straps on the pack? I don't think they are a reproduction. They are dry and cracked and compare to condition of original leather in my collection. And I would not fill the pack and strap it on as I don't think they would survive with any weight on them.

The 4 straps included post war? Would not be shocked. I only hoped they were original.

I was referring to the strap in pic #6
I wish suppliers would,nt do that it only causes confusion years hence.

William, the pack and bread bag are very nice. Looks like the breadbag was never used. I like the date stamp on the center strap. Very nice items! Congrats! Mike.

Yes Eric Confusion. And I already have a bunch of post war straps. I have I think some bulgarian ones that are closer then these ones in post #6. I want to put together a display but I don't think I will ever manage to find original straps. Damn.

Hey Mike thanks for the comments. Yes I was looking at it just 45 minutes ago and yes it has to be un issued because with field use you'd in the least get some rain on it and the leather would at least de form a little bit. The other damage on the other leather parts has to be explained some other way then use.

Remember those boots you sold me? The pack and bread bag are part of the same display I am working on and THAT was a long time ago I bought yer boots.

This stuff takes a bit of time to work on.

Yes I do remember the boots. Glad they going to some good use with a good guy! If you ever decide to up-grade keep me in mind for those to get back. Mike.

Will do but..... Pretty hard to up grade those boots for the price you offered I think the economy was really bad at that time. It's still bad but has picked up some. Calm before the storm.

William, I know what you mean. I always try and offer items as reasonable as I can since this is supposed to be fun. If I do a good thing maybe one will happen back...wink...wink... Just kidding! All the best! Mike.

I am so glad I bought them now. At the time I did it because I could not stand to see the price reductions and a good pair just sitting there when someone should have teken them the first day.

Having them now has saved me a headache with the project I am not nearing the finish line on.

Mike what are you currently chasing now?
