I was just over at a photographers place today and amongst his props I found the following. ID? Value?

It looks lik a M1874 French Dragoon's helmet, it is rather rough condition, but not beyond restoration, completely missing the horse hair crest, but wih an intact liner, I can not help on value though.

Hi, They are not scarce and it's not complete ..... but in France it would sell around 300-350 euros, that's 450- 500 USD I suppose,

Hey guys. Thanks for the feedback so far. I just called what used to be a super place to access more hands-on information on these helmets, but the store has now closed. It was Le Grande Armee in West Palm Beach. Does anyone know how much it would cost to restore this helmet and who I could go to see, or send it to? I would assume from browsing the internet that restored, it would have a value around $1500-$1700?

Be glad that you weren't able to contact Le Grande Armee. Their prices were HUGELY inflated, as it seems their typical customer was a Palm Beach decorator, or resident with more money than sense. Their headgear prices were 4-5 times market value. They used to attend the MAX Show; I didn't know they were out of business; I used to visit their website for a good laugh.

Well, I'm sure that with an address like Worth Ave. in WPB their location over-head was ungodly.
