Chuck yes to that question. I am testing how good I've done on another Frankenstein Helmet I think I did as good as can be done and I have to thank Eric for the Chin Strap he sold me. We knew it was a repro but it fooled him on ebay. It sure looks better then a brand new one I'd have ended up buying if Eric did not have it to sell. It's not 100% original but I think I will have to live with it. Total cost for the helmet could not have gone over $350.00 max. A work that took almost three years to complete as you see it.

Anyone wants the exact details on the helmet PM me.

And Eric was kind enough to sell me the liner and chin strap for 25 bucks. I re sold the liner band and pads and kept the repro strap. The Surplus repro liner band sold for more then an Original M18 liner band I sold at the same time on ebay. Funny how that worked.

I guess all depends on what you want...
If you had saved some money during the same 3 years, you would have probably had an original...
Or another point of vieuw: don't spend money on something, unless it's original and complete... you will maybe end up with less material, but with higher quality... Look at it this way: for $700.00 you have a nice unmessed with original helmet, which will of course always beat two altered examples...
But hey, don't worry, that's only my humble opinion...

Well if anyone had offered me an M18 all original for 700 I'd have snapped it up long ago. Don't see them in the States for less then 1000 USD and even at about a grand the ones I've seen had some issues. I don't have 1500 USD for an M18.
The One I posted up is original minus the strap.
