Hey William, eithr Austrian or Bulgarian, the Germans also used this type of spade in WWII. A pointed spade works better in rocky soil then a flat nosed shovel. The reason the Linemann shovel was more common for most European armies was because they were digging in the loam of Flanders, or the sand of Poland, the Austrians had to deal with the rocky ground of Galicia.
By the time you got that spade delivered to you, you will be out over $100, and it is not what you need for your display in my opinion.

The perfect guy I want to ask
What are those covers that prolifercate ebayUS every week in the WW1 German personal, fieldgear?
Also may I have a little Monday rant here. These two or three East European sellers have turned this catagory into a farce, forcing sellers to list their items under a different heading.
I love fieldgear but this is ridiculous, I beleive they are either banned or have been warned off Ebay.de etc.

Rant over, enough said, sorry guy,s

      Regards
      Eric

        Hey Eric,
Are you reffering to the ones that are photographed on a red background with the white squarish pattern on it? This is a Bulgarian seller, most of the stuff he has is Bulgarian, but ocasionally you will find some Austrian items (most of the things marked with a German manufacturer are actually Bulgarian, made in Germany). I did manage to get a nice Austrian carrier from one of the Bulgarian sellers, they have a product, and they manage to use ebay to sell, that is why it is important to do your home work. It is true that it dose require looking at a lot of stuff that does not really fint in the catagorie, but it is not as bad as the American seller that sells on Specilist Auctions in the Other countries catagorie (rant over)

          Hey Eric.
I took a troll through German personal fieldgera catagorie, and it is filled with Bulgarian stuff, there is a decent Linemann shovel advertized as German, but it is Russian.
