    Pickelhaube Belt Buckle Centre?

    Hi fellas
I picked this up earlier this year as a belt buckle centre.
I have seen a number of match box holders with this centre on but have never seen a buckle.
Wondering if anyone has seen one and could post a photo for me or is it not off a buckle at all.
    Thanks for the input

I have one of the match box holders. I was told these were made post WWI and were sold to tourists. They weren't a military item. I do remenber seeing a buckle on ebay several years ago using this as a faceplate. Kirby

        Hi Kirby
There is a match box holder on ebay at the moment,"Souvenir de France" is down the spine of the holder.
It's interesting that they weren't a military item, they look like they would be.
        Thanks for the info.
        Regards Spike

The real give away that these were not carried by German soldiers during the war is that they are made of brass, Brass was in very short supply, being the reason that they stopped using brass on helmets by 1915. Occasionally, one sees this type of match box safe made of steel, these are likely something carried by a German soldier during the war, as brass was so cheap and plentyfull after the war that it was easier to make them from the softer metal.

This emblem may have found its way on a buckle after the war, but it is not German military.
