Couple of Caps to check out

Hello I would like to add these cap to my collection but i'm not sure about the feldmutze. I have read there are lot of fakes of this type cap. The visored cap looks great to me but I am a novice with must Imperial items. Thanks for any help. Kirby

          field cap

Im sorry IMO field cap is not right. Weave of the wool, knap on the red band, no unit markings or maker inside, non sewn cockade, hand marked size with fraction, etc. I actually owned one identical to yours purchased from Jacques Knoles Jacobsen Jr about 20 years ago. Had it about 15 years, but after looking at several original ones, decided mine wasnt right. I have since acquired a nice original one, and in hand the differences are very apparent. Just my opinion, and by the way your uniform and equipment looks very nice. Kevin

I agree with Kevin on all points, the Kockard is for an officer's cap, and does not belong on a Feldmütze

Hello After looking at a bunch of them on the forum I thought it wasn't right. Does the visor look OK? Thanks Kirby

A quick check on an old mutz. Pull on the lining if it isnt stitched around the inside and only on the rim, its a copy. No need to go any further.

I will remember that, this one is only stitched around the rim. Thanks Kirby

There are some very nice caps for sale right now in the seller's section of the Pickelhaubes.com site. I just picked one up myself. Take a look.
