Hi Kirby,
Helmet is "right as rain", 100% original. Looks like another nice helmet from your late friends collection possibly?
Nice clean kokarden on the sides. You've gotta love both of those Saxon style non-serated type kokades, (including the National colors example in Saxon style). Chinstrap looks good too, 100% original to the wartime period as well.
You may wish to flip the backside of the liner up, to see if there is a "stamp" like label affixed inside the helmet shell. Sometimes these filzhaube have mfg or size labels glued into the inside of the shell, and they are often hidden by the "tounges" of the liner.
The Germans made quite a variety of these filzhaube. Some have visor trim & backspine trim on them. Some used gray metal or "pewter" finished trim on them, and some used brass pre-war stock trim on them as this one of yours has on it.
Are you going to keep it, or offer it up for sale?
All the Best,
Alan Schaefer

Hello Thanks for the info on the helmet. I was told some of the helmets in the collection had repo chinstraps. Nice that this one is 100%.
There were three felts. Prussian, Barvarian and this Saxon. I sold the Prussian. I'm going to keep either the Barvaria or the Saxon for my growing Imperial collection. The Saxon is in the best condition and is rarer but I like the looks of the Barvarian. I'm going to end up moving the Saxon. Kirby
