      Hello Guy,s
I,ve had this shirt in my collection for 20+yrs. At first I thought it was TR and used to wear it at my gigs (I did,nt know any better back then).
Various suggestions over the years: German WW1 Mountain Troop, Austrian WW1, Italian?, Reichswehr.
They used to be two issue stamp marks similar to WW1 one was red, but I cant remember what they said they were faint and have long since been washed away with many washings.
It had only one button originally similar to the ones I added (some have been lost) its made of heavy cotton.
Any thoughts gentlemen or it may go back to 'gig' wear. Its a nice warm shirt!

      Thanks
      Eric

Not the same design as my repro German WWI shirt but they probably had more then one. The Buttons look good.

No guru. Just an old collector, who has seen a lot of stuff. I think I have about five of these. The first time I saw one was in this period photo. When I first saw it (many years ago) I thought they were night shirts. Especially puzzling to me was the length, which I wondered how they stuffed into their trousers (seeing how the length was far below the crotch).

This "Stube" shot is of some trainees of the Flieger Ersatz Abteilung Nr.2. Besides the shirts, another interesting uniform is the black Drillich work tunic and trousers. They were issued to Kraftfahr personnel as well. Black cotton with a herringbone weave. I guess they didn't show the grease that the normal Drillich outfits would have.

                Hello,

Rather than a long speech, a good photo!

To note, the specific buttons and the rest.

For Chip M, if you are an old collector, I pass in PM to leave you my address and phone number, me, I am a young collector.
But I'am sure that you are a little more younger than me........

                Best regards
                David

                          Eric,

Nice example! It's interesting that it has a unit marking and yet, with the sizing tag still attached, may never have made it off of the shelf at the Bekleidungsamt.

David's shirt has more markings than I have ever seen before. Most of the examples I have seen have only the BA marks and were never issued. Great example.

My original shirt was stamped inside the front flap, hidden when buttoned.
                            David,s is awesome as usual.

Eric, in regards to the shirt with which you started this post, I question the weave as being pre '45 German. I could be wrong, but I have not seen a weave like that before. The white undershirt was used up through the 1930's.
