I think the most skull helmets out there are fakes. But we should not forget that some genuine but really strange looking skull helmets were made.

I saw it and did not like it. Too much detail in the cross bones for me. Also rare to see on an actuall camo.

I once read in a book at the school library about WWI stormtroops being seen attacking the allied line with skulls and bones on the front of their helmets but since then never saw another reference to that and the idea is un supported in my experience with collecting. I think the author was confused, maybe with the 20's? I don't recall the book's name.

                        Thanks Guy,s
I dont understand why a person would,nt at least ask for an opinion before
shelling out that much on a helmet.
In my collecting youth I thought they were Flamethrower helmets. There
seems to be a lot of variation thats for sure.

Some more skull helmets worn after ww1!

The first helmet has a Prussia metal cap skull on it, I think.

The second photo shows a member of the Wehrverband Wehrwolf with a painted skull.

I would not discount this account.

The interesting thing about this helmet is the company number on the BACK.

Used only by combat troops in the line.

I've had this thing for over 20 years.
