    Navy Cap for inspection

A old guy came into a friends shop today and he needed money for prescriptions. It is rough on old people today. But we bought a tunic, ashirt, tie badge and this cap, all seem to be Imperial Navy. I was not there when my friend bought the stuff, and I know nothing of Imperial German military items.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry again to be the bearer of bad news. The cap is Bundesmarine (West German Navy). The cap tally looks ok for a dock worker unit and the cocade looks to be 3rd reich era.

          Navy cap

After i took the pictures and saw how clean it was, I was worried about it.
do you think the tally comes from the same time period as the cap. Actually since I was not there when it was purchased. I am not going to assume any loss. But it is still not good news. At least the Dress Jacket looks right to both of us.
          Thanks,
          Jack

The cap tally looks to be a good imperial tally and I'm afraid that I gave you the wrong info on what it was for, its not a dock yard unit but a basic training unit. Interestingly enough your tunic is marked to a basic training unit as well. do you have a better picture of the stamp above the IIIMAA 2 picture? That will date the tunic. The tally of course is not one that is sought after as much as one marked to a ship or naval infantry unit.

Yes, right, it's a 1960's, would say late, Cap when the Germans still used the US aproval and contract codes and after the invention of the NSN Code system where the 12 is the country code.
