The GIBRALTAR Cuff-Title : good or not

good or not good ? That is the question.

My first impression is not negative. It could be good, it could be bad.

I would like to see better details of the lettering.

I like it. It looks like a genuine item (uniform removed).

          Gibraltar Cuff-Title

Based on the photos, I like it too

The replicas retailed by Cyrus Lee at Soldat were great for re-enactors, but quite rightly weren't intended to be good enough to fool collectors, co consequently don't come close to originals. There probably are other repros out there however, being sold as the real thing.

In terms of lettering, material and backing cloth (and the rear detail of the loose stitiches) yours looks 100% correct based on the photos.

          All the best

          Paul.

Looks good, stitching in the back is what does it for me.

              Sorry Guys
Here I go again. Looks like a poor embroidered copy to me.
A number of the letters are way off especially the G,B,R,s and sewn too thin.

It existed a lot of variances of this cuff title, which had differences in the quality too. Here are some other examples which are offered by a dealer at the moment.

This one was on estand during last weeks! I don't think thinner letters must always be a bad sign.....

I my opinion the item posted in #1 is something that you can call an "ordinary" issued cuff title.

Ok, we know there were other private purchased examples in a better quality, but I still like the one that cousette posted in this thread.

It makes me sad to see these, I could have bought one in Germany in the 80s at a coin shop but I did not because I thought it was British or something else
