Something looks funny about it. Can't put my finger on it but it looks as if you have found it on an auction site and the seller is intentionally not taking the right photos..... or, the seller is clueless about what collectors need to see.

If you have the helmet in your hands please take a photo of the helmet in the same position as the one I am posting here below. We will want to see the extent of the flare.

I find the right side or first shot of the cut out to be the funny one. The other one does look good. It may be the paint distorting the flare on the funny side. I think if your helmet has the proper flare then it's a good one. Get that shot for confirmation.

It looks a lot of funny. The Liner pads look funny. Why the scilence on this one from the heavy weights?

Ok, I've waited a while with answering to this, but I had no good vibes with this one from the beginning. Let's agree that the provided pics are not good enough to make a perfect judgement.
Nevertheless, I don't like this helmet at all for a few reasons:
                1) The liner looks like a new one (probably fake)...
                2) The holes for the liner cord look as if there has never been a cord in there... this is in contrast to the overall wear of the helmet...
                3) The colors on this helmet look very funny...
                4) The color of the chinstrap looks also very strange...
                5) As mentioned before, the right shots were not made...
                6) The cutout looks strange...
                7) The label and the wearers name don't convince me...
Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I feel about this one. I think good pictures will give us all the answers...

The first thought that crossed my mind when I saw this cutout was Latvian fake. I think Adler 1 covered it well.

                    Hello,

I o not like M18 "mit Ohrenauschnit" with camo paint.
                    The 100 000 produced had a Wollstaubpaint

Might be the photos but the cut outs did not seem symmetrical and it does have that oven baked look.

Guy,s your the Best. Here,s a better shot.
William you have a keen eye.
Cutout should be at least 20mm high.
Beyond the funky'64 stamp and the camo, black lines look like waterbased paint.
I might be wrong but I also get uneasy when I see an M18 with anything other than a white liner?

Still can't see the cut out well enough but the paint has that un honest over baked forced aging to it but is very convincing at the same time.

Salut à toi, Cousette the "fakes- and grossfiloufirma hunter"!

And I repeat, again and again and again, I think no M18 mit Ohrenauschnitt has been camo-painted during WW1.
