    My Gottlieb-Hammesfahr Trench Knife

The quality of the leather and heaviness are impressive compared to some other trench knives that I have held...is this a pebbled leather or pigskin? seems pebbled to me...interestingly this is the third one I have had that has the imperial crown stamped over the word Germany. This leads me to believe these were originally made for early export but then taken in by the military.
Anyway your thoughts and comments are welcome.

I would suspect that Germany was stamped over the Imperial crown and not the other way around. Thousands of these where sold post WW1.

I agree with Nzef (What is you name by the way?)
Looks like the 'Germany' just caught the edge of the proof stamp.
