An odd liner pins question...

Hey guys,


I won these pins a lot of 7 of them on ebay. My question is were early German helmet liner pins made of brass? I have two or three in the lot that seem to be made of brass. I've never seen anything but steel liner pins.

I,ve seen brass pin copies before for reenacting lids. Did,nt GWM sell them in the past?
Never seen original brass ones though, cant be right, doesnt make sense.
Ps: The rear pin on me lid is original to the helmet, just worn and rusty with traces of original paint.

I have never encountered brass liner pins on original WWI German steel helmets.
